Effective with this post, this blog will end. I have stepped down as Chairman of the Illinois Modern Whig Party; not because I do not support the Modern Whigs, but because I cannot give the party the time or funding necessary to make the Illinois Modern Whig party a viable contender in the state.
I will continue to support the party and work for them if and whenever asked, but I am no longer going to serve as the chairman.
However, as a person who does not know when to shut up, I have started a new blog which will continue to focus on my efforts to spread my message against those who would destroy the U.S. Constitution, and all it represents.
The website will be "whig" based, but not affiliated with the Modern Whig Party. Please join me on my move to the new blog site - LincolnWhig.blogspot.com

I Am Not A Liberal!
Remember the good ole days when American's were proud, hard working and principled? Remember when Ronald Reagan led us into an era of patriotism and prosperity? Remember how he was able to tell the truth and win praise from 90% of America, at his highest point?
Ronald Reagan told Americans that it was good to be free; and it was good to work for what you have. He also taught us that it was okay to be poor, I mean truly poor...eating home cooked meals made from scratch; playing with toys made from old newspapers; watching black and white television through static; while friends had color television and a fancy antenna; and later, cable tv. He taught me that, as with his childhood, I was "poor but did not know it". He taught us that "poor" was neither a disease nor a handicap and did not require pity from anyone. Ronald Reagan taught us that expecting the government to carry us through life was wrong. It was a life style which defined the American Liberal; it was not American!
By contrast, striving to build a good life through hard work, integrity and faith in God is what defined a true American, from the founding of our nation. It was defined as conservatism. It mandated a government which did not intrude into the lives of American citizens. It provided for a government that worked for, not depended on, it's citizens.
Over the past few months however, I have began noticing bumper stickers which proudly state, "Not a Conservative", or "Not a Republican". At first glance, I thought to myself, when the "Not a liberal" bumperstickers were popular 3 decades ago, people displayed them with pride and most people agreed with the message. Today however, with the anti-conservative bumperstickers, I could not help but think these people appear foolish. After all, they are boasting beliefs which are nothing close to what America is all about.
Then I see bumperstickers which boast, "Jesus was a liberal" or "Jesus was a democrat". This may be an opinion, but I find it blasphemous. Jesus believed that man should help his brother's and sister's who cannot help themselves, but I have not read anything which would lead me to believe that our Lord and Savior agrees with the pro-choice crowd, or the masses who would have other people work hard and give everything to the government, so the lazy could last for generations without working a single day - taking and taking, while giving nothing back. As I see it, my life and what I do is the assignment I am given when I was put on earth. My body and all that is physically "me", is on loan from God. As such, it is my responsibility to take the best care of his property that I can. While I am ashamed that I have not taken the best care of this body, I try to work hard and I try to take care of myself as best I can as a weak servant. I also try to never take advantage of or abuse this gift. To be a sloth is to commit one of the 7 deadly sins.
As we watch our president make his rounds this past week, he has encouraged people to take advantage of the "free" gifts of the government - food, insurance, welfare and so forth. The president has justified and continues to justify not only the sin of sloth, but the sin of greed and envy as well; and he does this with purpose. In a speech to young people in a college today, the president vilified the Republicans and cited our philosophical differences. It was not that long ago that our nation's leader would never paint a group negatively for trying to cut spending. In fact, when Obama served his single and part-time term on the senate, he called George W Bush a traitor. He said that George Bush was UN-patriotic for spending so carelessly. If this is true, how are we to characterize Obama, who has outspent George W. Bush, 3 to 1? Using Obama's words, this would make him (Obama), three times the traitor, which by all measures is punishable by forfeiting his citizenship or imprisonment or firing squad.
As responsible citizens, we are faced with this cancer, which is deadly to democracy. As responsible citizens, it is our job to educate the masses. To teach the young people that it is wrong to take a bite from the poison Obama apple.
Many people feel this is a temporary hiccup in our system of government, which will pass when Obama ends his final term in 2016. What these people do not realize is that once you give people something for free, it will become an expectation of the government. Once we become accustomed to the "free" goods, it will be impossible to change back. Today versus only 8 years ago, the number of people on food stamps have tripled, reaching the highest level in history. Over the past year, in a very affluent area in the western suburbs of Chicago, a school district reports that participation in the free lunch program has increased from about 12% to over 30%. I was told that the school is calling the parents and telling them to sign a paper, allowing the school to give free food, adding that parents are sometimes reluctant. In other words, the government is forcing the schools to push free lunch or lose funding all together.
Today, by ratio, more people are on some form of welfare than at anytime in our nation's history. Worse yet, according to the census bureau; for the first time ever, there are more people collecting "means based" aid from the government, than there are people working a full time job. Even worse, these facts are based on a 2 year old census. It is likely that the trend not only continued, but I fear the margin of takers to givers has widened in favor of the takers.
Obama is out on the campaign trail, blaming all of the nation's problems on the Republicans and the government shut down. The government is painting progressiveness and liberalism as a good thing, encouraging people to "hit the streets" to increase participation in Obamacare, ala "Hitler Youth"! He calls it "Team Obamacare"!
If you find yourself leaning toward "giving in" to the growing trend, you should splash some water on your face and maybe slap yourself a few times. It is your responsibility as an American, as it is mine; to begin working the trail and getting the word out that liberalism is not only bad, but just plain deadly to our democracy. We need to instill that sense of pride that Ronald Reagan taught us. We need to teach people that conservative thinking is better for everyone, not just the rich. Using every medium available - Facebook, You_Tube, Twitter, whatever; we need to teach the young people that it is only through the success of the rich, that jobs are created. When was the last time that a poor person hired people?
It is time to revive the true idea of American democracy. It is time to speak up and speak out. It is time for each of us to echo the words and beliefs of Ted Cruz. It is time to stop accepting the liberal way as the acceptable way. It is time to declare loudly and with pride that you too, are not a liberal.
