So Ted Cruz spent more than 21 hours telling the nation why Obamacare is bad. He also took a lot of heat for doing this from members of both parties. The sad thing is, if the Republican party had taken a more aggressive position from the start, we wouldn't be in this position today. Since 2006, conservatives have been beaten down by the left and by the media through lies, misrepresentations and false accusations. Through it all, the conservative leadership has taken a passive approach by either responding to charges with a wimpy response or not responding at all.
With increasing frequency, the left is rewriting history in an effort to make republicans and conservatives appear evil. Over the past several weeks, I have heard politicians, radio hosts (and callers); and even the president; describe Ronald Reagan as a president who gave the rich all the breaks at the expense of the middle class. Our college age voters today did not know Ronald Reagan. They did not know that he led the country out of the worst economy in our nations history, until now; and into the longest economic expansion in our nations history. College students today do not know that the lifestyles of all Americans, poor to rich, drastically improved because of the economic policies of the Reagan administration.
Just this past week, republicans in congress were compared to terrorists with "bombs strapped to their chests". This, in response to the republicans refusing to pass the finance bill with a rubber stamp. Obama, Pelosi, Carney and others have said over and over, how they will not negotiate... Now, if any republican president or lawmaker would have said this, he or she would have already been kicked out of Washington. If a republican president said he would not negotiate, he would have been smeared throughout the nation and the world. In fact, Ronald Reagan's success could only be attributed to his ability to bring the two sides together and LEAD them to a compromised resolution. Lead and compromise, two words which cannot be used to describe Obama. One other interesting observation is how Obama repeatedly says, "we will not negotiate..." Is there a connection or a play on words since George HW Bush said, "we will not negotiate with terrorists".
Obama, supposedly in his final term, has attacked conservatives, Christians, Fox News, and everyone else he has disdain for, which is anyone who does not agree with him. Can anyone remember Ronald Reagan personally attacking the citizens he was supposed to be representing? Reagan was elected by 60% of the population, but he was president to all Americans, Obama is president to himself and the people he chooses to help; gang bangers, Islamic extremists and Hollywood.
So back to the topic at hand, do republicans allow government to close on October 1? Have they learned nothing from the sequester, when Obama closed public parks and anything else which would attract attention of the media? Allowing government to close would mean one of two things, either republicans are working on Obama's behalf, or they are incredibly stupid. A closed government would be the best thing that could happen to this administration as it would guarantee a democratic blowout in 2014, a veto-proof repeal of the 22nd amendment and a guarantee of the total destruction of the American form of government.
If the government were to close, anything further that would go wrong with the country or Obamacare, would be blamed on the republicans closing government. Heck, Obama is still blaming George W Bush for the economy today. Is it really too complicated for these guys to figure out? This past week, Obama said he would not let republicans reverse all of his accomplishments. You see, here he is positioning himself to blame EVERYTHING on republicans, particularly since he has accomplished nothing. The republicans must not play into his wicked hand.
The correct way to play this hand is very simple. You've made your point, now let the bill through and let the sparks fly. Following the passage of this poison pill, republican leadership must be in front of cameras everyday, telling America how their lives are worse because of (fill in stupid Obama plan here). When Obama says, well you voted for it, the republican lawmaker can say how he voted against it before he voted for it. Apparently, this is a way to erase stupid decisions politicians make. After-all, John Kerry used this as his anti Iraq war position.
Like all other crazyness we are seeing today, history tends to repeat itself. Today we are watching the implosion of the republican party because they cannot take a position or a stand. Strangely enough, it was idealogical incompetence of the Whig party in 1856 which caused Lincoln to join the new Republican party. This Tuesday, we may very well see the beginning of the end of the republican party. In other words, if the "Sorry, We're Closed" goes up, republicans better start posting in the "Positions Wanted" section of the newspaper.
